As the first couple of months of 2023 whizz past, we’ve been taking a look back at our trip highlights from last year. We always take the time to read through your feedback (good and bad!) as it forms the basis for how we plan and deliver our trips in the future. We love hearing all about your experiences, but every so often, a testimonial comes through that really makes us smile 😊

NORTHERN LIGHTS WINTER TREK

“This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The crew and local guides were brilliant, as was the accommodation and food. Stunning scenery and a challenge, without being arduous. This was my first challenge and I was extremely nervous to begin with, especially travelling on my own. I needn’t have worried – the whole thing was phenomenal and I will certainly be back for more!” – Victoria, March 2022

GREAT ITALIAN LAKES CYCLE CHALLENGE

“The Italian lakes was my first Discover Adventure cycling challenge and it certainly didn’t disappoint in terms of the route, spectacular views and a great group of fellow cyclists. It was incredibly well organised, with a brilliant support team with us all the way. The DA crew were awesome guys and really inspired confidence in terms of their experience, help and guidance if needed and great humour and encouragement along the way. We were very lucky with the weather, we had cool sunny starts then warm hazy sunshine most days. The hills were tough in places, I won’t lie, but the views and sense of achievement at the top made it all worthwhile. It genuinely was one of the best weeks of my life and I can’t wait to sign up for the next challenge!” – Chantal, April 2022

INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU

“Well, what can I say? This was probably the most magical experience of my life. We instantly bonded as a team at the airport and it stayed that way throughout the trek. Having a team of like-minded people around you to help you through was amazing and we are all aiming to keep in touch afterwards – we've even got our first UK hike together booked in the diary. The crew made us feel special, comfortable and welcome at all times – they just couldn't do enough for us. The food whilst camping especially was out of this world, it far exceeded expectations so credit to the chefs for sure!     The trek itself was perfectly led, Victor's knowledge allowed us to time everything perfectly, to stay away from the big crowds, to get the necessary rest along the way and also to introduce to lots of local culture too. I knew it was going to be a special experience but I cannot really put into words how special that moment was when we finally reached Machu Picchu, it was very emotional for everyone involved and of course magical. CYCLE SRI LANKA

“Sri Lanka is an incredible place. Cycling with DA and the local team ensured that we saw beautiful countryside and met lovely people. I especially enjoyed eating the regional food in a family's house and in roadside cafes. The wildlife safari was also very special. I would recommend this trip to anyone who loves cycling and experiencing a foreign country away from tourist resorts.” – Elizabeth, May 2022

PYRENEES FREEDOM TRAIL

“My experience of the Pyrenees Freedom Trail was above and beyond my expectations. Steve, our Discover Adventure leader/guide was a professional and very knowledgeable of the challenge we were undertaking. Bartram, our local French guide was professional throughout, giving the whole group a sense of assurance of his knowledge of the Pyrenees. I know the whole group were very much at ease when being guided by Steve and Bartram when visibility dropped and the trail became a little more difficult. An expert team that led the group to achieve what they may have felt they would not achieve; I would recommend DA in an instant. I look forward to maybe coming back for another challenge in the future. Thank You.” – David, June 2022

LONDON TO PARIS CYCLE

“I signed up as a solo cyclist and had the best experience. The crew were amazing, so lovely and welcoming and everyone else on the trip just made the whole experience. MOUNT TOUBKAL TREK

“Having never undertaken a challenge like this before, I was a bit nervous before we went. However, I had the best time exploring a new country, with a fantastic group of people and raised much needed funds for the Fire Fighter's Charity while doing so. The Discover Adventure crew and the local guides were all amazing and ensured everything went smoothly; that we were well fed and looked after us for the duration of the challenge. We felt such a buzz when we got to the summit and again at the end of the trip; such a brilliant experience!” – Mary, July 2022

ARCTIC ADVENTURE

“I honestly couldn’t fault this challenge. The days were full of amazing experiences, including husky sledding, skiing, snow shoeing, taking a dip in a frozen lake and seeing the Northern Lights – all of which I’ll treasure forever. We don’t get much time to stop nowadays, and on this trip, you get to pause, take in beautiful scenery and enjoy complete silence. It’s an incredible thing to experience, along with some great laughs and working as a team too! A few stand out moments for me (it’s hard to pick as it was all brilliant!) was the dip in a frozen lake. I felt euphoric afterwards. The second was watching the night sky whilst standing on a frozen lake, a minutes’ walk from our cabin. The sky was so clear and seeing the stars and Northern Lights was absolutely breath-taking. Snowshoeing was also a great activity, challenging at times but totally worth it, eating lunch by an open fire surrounded by a snowy landscape – incredible! Since I’ve got back, I haven’t stopped talking about this trip. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done and I highly recommend it; I want to go back and experience it all again!” – Hayley, December 2022

EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK

“I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would highly recommend the trek to anyone looking for a challenge! The organisation of the trip was excellent, with the safety of the group being top priority. The leaders created a very caring environment where everyone was supported and encouraged along the way to reach their goal. I am grateful to have met many amazing and inspiring people on the trek and having learned so much about Nepalese culture just in one trip. Could not fault anything!” – Josh, December 2022
